Daniel Boone mapped Clinton and Cumberland Counties in 1769.  In the early 1800’s the first oil well in America was drilled near Burkesville in Cumberland County.

In the early 1940's, as a result of the Flood Control Act of 1938, Dale Hollow Dam was constructed on the Obey River in Tennessee. This created one of the most beautiful, clear lakes in the country,  with 620 miles of shoreline and 48 square miles of surface water straddling the Kentucky and Tennessee border.

The rustic and rugged Cumberland Mountains provide a scenic backdrop for houseboating, jet skiing, swimming,  hunting and fishing.  Dale Hollow is a major draw for migratory waterfowl and bald eagles and the shorelines offer excellent opportunities for small game. Dale Hollow is also one of the top spots for scuba diving.

Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park
features a restaurant,  two swimming pools, 25 miles of horseback riding trails (with overnight tie-ups), camping and a marina where you can rent pontoon or fishing boats.

The Park has an extensive program of special weekends and major events throughout the year.  The modern 60-room lodge offers a spectacular view of the lake.

Many other marinas, resorts, cottages, motels, and houseboats dot Dale Hollow Lake’s shores.  The cottages and houseboats provide varying degrees of comfort, from basic to luxurious, and cover a wide range of budgets.

The stunning beauty of the deep blue water and the rugged mountains is a captivating setting for a memorable vacation.
